The traditional Puerto Rican tile floors, famously known as Losas Criollas (Creole Tiles), represent a vibrant intersection of artisanal craft and colonial history. Introduced around 1900 from Barcelona, these "hydraulic" cement tiles became a hallmark of Puerto Rican interiors for their ability to remain cool in the tropical heat while displaying intricate, cheerful geometric and floral designs.
